Training Equipment - Treadmills

An exercise treadmill machine is a device designed for walking or running while indoors and without actually leaving the place. The machine consists of a special moving platform that is powered by a flywheel or an electric motor. Because of the opposing rear movement of the belt, you are can run and walk at a determined pace, which means that the speed of the belt is the speed with which you work out.

Controlling and measuring devices can thus be installed on the exercise treadmill machine, thus being able to monitor the number of burnt calories or the amount of effort involved. Besides the motor-powered version, there is also a mechanical exercise treadmill that is powered by the movement of the user who pushes the belt when running or walking. The choice of design depends on the user’s requirements and the location where it is meant to be used.

The motor driven exercise treadmill models are definitely more expensive and a lot heavier too. These are usually found in professional gyms or special physiotherapy clinics. For home use, many people prefer the less costly lightweight alternative of the simple machine version powered by the motion force of the user alone.

In the early days of the invention, the exercise treadmill served for the reformation of incarcerated criminals, at the beginning of the 19th century. Only a century and a half later did the exercise treadmill come in use in hospitals of heart and lung disease. The the popularity of the exercise treadmill and bike increased only after 1968 when they were scientifically proved great for cardiovascular training.

The health benefits resulting from the training with an exercise treadmill are similar to all the other cardio workouts: the alleviation of health problems, a better health condition and an improvement of the heart rate. Constant training with an exercise treadmill enhances physical endurance while eliminating the strain in ankles, knees and lower back.

Limitations and advantages have been equally identified for the use of an exercise treadmill. People who use such a machine for weight loss have the chance of monitoring the heart rate and the amount of calories they burn. Furthermore, the slope and the speed can be adjusted to suit one’s needs. Even so, it is worth mentioning the fact that the use of an exercise treadmill is definitely inferior to running for a number of reasons. The indoor use and the lack of ground contact have their impact on the quality of the activity and the condition of the trainee.

Using Your Treadmill Equipment to Advantage

After much study it has been found that walking is the best exercise and is conducive in living longer and healthier. Even though there are a great number of people who do not exercise, either because they may find an excuse to not do so or are simply not sure of what to do.

A good treadmill exercise routine is the answer because it can be made to fit each individual’s needs and the exercise itself is convenient, beneficial to the user and can be enjoyable at the same time. Controlling the walking exercise is a major part of a good treadmill exercise routine.

Sure, sprinting will get you up to your anaerobic threshold quicker; still, the old adage “Slow and steady wins the race” applies well in this case.

The treadmill exercise is superior to other indoor exercise machines and it is very beneficial to losing extra weight and burning unwanted calories and in helping a person to stay in peak form.

In addition, the treadmill exercise routine plays on the genetic traits of the person and thus may in fact have the possibility to prolong the person’s life.

The more modern the more sophisticated the fitness features of treadmill equipment and thus the more likely the equipment can calculate and monitor heart-rate and workout parameters for you.

When this safe range is found, I’ve been told that you should be able to carry on a conversation while you walk with a fast pace, jog or run on the treadmill fitness equipment. After all, it is not the speed that is paramount but rather the exertion at the raised heart-rate that gives the benefit.

For example, a treadmill exercise routine may span 12 weeks and have different exercises planned for different days and weeks, during the entire routine.

Next, many brands of treadmill equipment offer incline fitness features. An incline increases the exertion necessary within the exercise program, facilitating better endurance. Again, the suggested path is to take it slow and move ahead gradually.

Thursdays may be reserved for incline intervals for the entire 12 weeks, and on Fridays, during the first four weeks, the person may rest and from week five onwards may start up cardio walks and strength moves once again.

While using a treadmill exercise program a few points need to be addressed, such as having the right footwork, walking from the waist to get better hip rotation, and letting the arms swing in the same manner of going forwards and back that is in tune with the movement of the hips and legs.

Keeping these points in mind and following them will help achieve the most optimum benefits from your treadmill exercise program.

Get Better Weight Loss Results With Morning Treadmill Workouts

Treadmills are an excellent way of losing weight and staying fit, however many people put off doing their exercise routines until the end of the day. This can be really costly and could mean that you never actually get round to doing your workout.

Losing weight revolves around the notion of being able to burn the most amount of fat. There is a science begin this - for example, if you exercise in a morning then you are preparing your body for the whole day ahead of you. During the night while you sleep, your body is being fed only a minimal amount of fuel because you do not need to function like you do during the day.

When you wake up, a good cardio routine on a treadmill will wake up your energy reserves. Your glycogen levels are always lower in the morning, as are your blood glucose levels. This means when you start exercising, your body is forced to burn fat for energy.

For many people, the start to the day means eating a good breakfast, but this can actually make it harder for you to burn fat. Every time you eat, and especially if you have a lot of food which contains carbohydrate, your body produces insulin, which reduces the effective burning of body fat.

If you implement your treadmill workout first thing in the morning, your body dips into the fat reserves and helps you lose weight rather than packing and on like a meal would do.

You should always do your morning treadmill exercises before eating a breakfast because you will get the best possible weight loss results. If you eat a breakfast before you exercise, your treadmill work will simply burn off the fat and calories that you have just eaten. Exercise before you eat, and you will actually burn off the fat and calories that you are already carrying.

Another great advantage to working out in the morning is that the treadmill exercise will help to speed up your metabolism, which means that you will be able to burn calories quicker throughout the day. The sooner you can get your metabolism into top gear, the longer you will be able to burn calories most efficiently, which all helps you to lose weight.

If you wait until the evening to do your treadmill workout, your body won’t get the full benefits, because it goes to sleep shortly thereafter. Anyone who works out first thing in the morning will tell you that they get a great boost of energy that lasts them throughout the day.

Many of us tend to make excuses as to why we haven’t done our exercises today - maybe we were running late, or we had to take care of a family matter, the list goes on. However, if you get on your treadmill first thing in a morning, then you won’t have to keep making these excuses to yourself. Also, a morning workout is a really good way of controlling your binge eating. As you settle into your new routine you will find that your cravings weaken, giving you total control over your eating habits.

The Treadmill Vs The Stationary Bike - Which One Is King?

If you talk to any fitness trainer about good cardio workout machines then most of them will mention the treadmill or the stationary bike (or even both!) as good options. These pieces of gym equipment can both give a range of fitness and health benefits but, which one rules?

The first thing that you need to know here is that both the treadmill and the stationary bike do share a lot of features and benefits as well as some differences. Both, for example, can be used both by beginners and experienced trainers to see quick and specific results in cardio-vascular training and health, calorie burning, body toning and stamina building.

And, both of these machines can be used in the gym or at home. It is perfectly viable to buy a home treadmill or a home exercise bike nowadays that won’t take up much room and that can give you the same benefits (with regular use of course!) as a machine used by gyms. But, there are some differences between these two types of gym machines that could have a bearing on which one you use.

For example, many people prefer to use a treadmill because it can potentially do a better job of burning calories than a bike. It also gives you specific benefits in the lower body areas than you may not see from a bike. Some people also find that the fact that you can do different types of exercise on a treadmill (such as walking, jogging, running or hill climbing) makes a difference here as well.

But, a stationary bike also comes with a lot of benefits as well. This is one of the best low impact forms of exercise so you can minimize the possibility of injury. It can also be a better option if you are short on space and want to use a bike at home. Bikes are also real easy to use and may suit some people looking to exercise better than a treadmill such as older people.

The treadmill also has some other disadvantages. It can, for example, be more likely to put undue pressure on your joints and it can be an easy cause of accident if you do not use it correctly. And, a stationary bike’s disadvantages include the fact that it doesn’t burn as much off as a treadmill can and it offers no real variety of exercises that you can do on it.

So, there are pros and cons to both machines here. At the end of the day you may well find that the decision you make between the two will simply be based on your personal preference rather than on any other factor. You may simply prefer cycling to running or vice versa, for example.

Remember, you may also see a range of different fitness benefits by using both machines as part of your overall training regime. So, unless you really can’t or won’t use one of these options then do consider them both. This could help you see the maximum fitness benefits in the shortest space of time.

Shall You buy A Used Treadmill?

Buying a used treadmill can be quite taxing affair. This is because not everyone is a treadmill expert, which is what one needs to be while going out to buy a used treadmill. You actually need to be like an expert who can judge the exact condition of a second hand treadmill.

Since treadmill is not something that stands in the corner and looks beautiful. It is subjected to rigorous work. Therefore, the better condition it is in, the better price it should command. So, you have to ensure that you are paying exactly what the machine is worth and not a penny more. Since the condition of a treadmill is difficult to judge from its looks, it is better to buy them from a reliable source.

When you are going for a used machine, it is advisable that you look for high-end models instead of low cost treadmills because you do not save much on them at the end of the day. It is only on the more expensive kind that you would save some money even after spending on the repairs needed, if any. But if you are buying a low price machine and you had to spend money on it, it would surely not be the deal you were looking for.

Buying a used treadmill directly from an owner may or may not be a good deal depending upon how much you know about the treadmills in general. If you know enough about treadmills, you might strike a good bargain. But then, if you don’t know much about these machines you might also end up paying too much for too little.

However, if you want to do it privately, it is better if you take the assistance of websites like eBay because many of these websites are very alive to their reputation and would not allow plundering in the name of selling. So, you can rest assured that even if what you are paying is a little more, it would certainly not be a-lot-for-nothing kind of a deal for you.

Treadmills are getting cheaper every day. Therefore, before you go for a used treadmill, check if you could get a new one within your budget. A cheaper new machine is better than an expensive used one.

Using Treadmill Equipment to Your Advantage

I recently have taken a liking to the phrase “Just take it step by step.” It is generally sound advice and particularly so when entering the realm of physical fitness. The current trend in keeping fit at home prompts some safety tips from a professional body builder.

Pace yourself and try to make the exercise as fun and enjoyable as possible. Since it takes approximately twenty minutes to burn fat, you might as well get into a nice steady groove, with the idea being to work up to twenty minutes and beyond on the treadmill equipment alone. Sure, sprinting will get you up to your anaerobic threshold quicker; still, the old adage “Slow and steady wins the race” applies well in this case.

The next step is to find your cardiovascular exercise range. There is an accepted formula for determining the safe range for your personal physical exertion. The zone is calculated to give a maximum benefit for time and effort exerted. And you can do the calculation with your doctor or trainer – maximum heart-rate, age, weight and sex are taken into consideration.

The more modern the more sophisticated the fitness features of treadmill equipment and thus the more likely the equipment can calculate and monitor heart-rate and workout parameters for you.

Safe Speed, Incline and Endurance

When this safe range is found, I’ve been told that you should be able to carry on a conversation while you walk with a fast pace, jog or run on the treadmill equipment. After all, it is not the speed that is paramount but rather the exertion at the raised heart-rate that gives the benefit. As well, it is not uncommon to last only a few minutes initially, so don‘t lose hope. Dialing in a safe, comfortable speed is a good first start.

Next, many brands of treadmill equipment offer incline fitness features. An incline increases the exertion necessary within the exercise program, facilitating better endurance. Again, the suggested path is to take it slow and move ahead gradually.

Yes, it could be a slow journey, but no one said you have to complete it the first day. With honest participation in a fitness program on treadmill equipment, more efficient heart and lung function, lower cholesterol and many other benefits will be yours. Make it a part of your life today. The best idea is to take the proper time and consideration in order to ensure that you are making the best decision for own personal needs and preferences.

Treadmill Walking Belt Lubricant: Improve the Performance of Your Treadmill

There are certain fundamental differences in what happens to the athlete’s feet when running on the track compared to when running on a treadmill. For instance, the centre of mass of the athlete running on the track behaves rather differently by accelerating the centre of their mass when propelled forward and decelerates this mass when in an early-stance, and this acceleration and deceleration occurs continuously as the athlete moves forward.

The athlete who uses the treadmill, however, finds that his centre of mass remains static due to the fact that running on the treadmill walking belt keeps the centre of mass under and behind his legs and feet and this is because the athlete does not need to propel himself forward but rather only needs to remain balanced and stable.

The prolonged use of a treadmill will certainly entail some amount of maintenance work and keeping the treadmill walking belt in good shape is of as much importance as keeping the body in shape. This is because keeping the treadmill walking belt in good condition will not only ensure that the treadmill lasts longer but will also keep the personal performance at a proper level.

The need to replace a treadmill walking belt can incur a certain amount of expense and as is the case with other maintenance items, the cost can be more than budgeted for. Even a single treadmill walking belt that needs to be replaced can cost hundreds of dollars and will also result in a break in the workout schedule.

Therefore, keeping the treadmill walking belt in good condition is incredibly important, and can easily be achieved by using a treadmill walking belt lubricant regularly, even though newer treadmills may not require lubrication in their early stages. In any case, it is necessary to check in the treadmill manual in order to see when normal and routine maintenance need to be performed.

When using the treadmill walking belt lubricant, it is imperative to check that the right lubricant is being applied due to the fact that there are many different lubricant types available on the market. Choosing the one that is not proper for your particular machine may make the treadmill act jerky, and this is not only a possible cause for injury, but also can possibly seriously damage your machine.

This is why taking the small amount of time and consideration that is required is so truly important, and why you will be grateful in the end because all you will reap is that of positive benefits from taking the proper care of your treadmill.
